Muriel Ford, of Port Washington, passed away in the afternoon hours of Monday, June 19, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Harbor Campus in Port Washington. She was 90 years old.
Muriel was born in Preston, MN, on November 4, 1932, daughter of Verl and Winnie (nee Jones) Sikkink. She grew up in rural Fillmore County until her family moved to Spring Valley, MN, when she was in 6th grade. She graduated from Spring Valley High School with the class of 1950. After high school she worked as a medical secretary at the Mayo Clinic. On September 22, 1956, she married Calvin Ford at the Congregational Church in Spring Valley. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Milwaukee. In 1963, they moved to Port Washington.
Muriel was a very active member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, the Port Washington Women's Club, The Harborview Homemakers, Friday Book Talk Club, the VFW Women's Auxiliary, Ozaukee Chapter #147 Order of the Eastern Star, the Port Washington Senior Center and a Monday Morning coffee group with friends.
She enjoyed reading, watching old western movies, gardening, going out for lunch and dinner with friends and family, and spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She loved all Wisconsin sports teams, especially the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers.
Muriel is survived by her four daughters: Debra Ford, Lori (Gary) Lanser, Patti (Dale) Rismeyer and Stacy (Scott) Zwicker. She is further survived by 12 grandchildren: Greg and Matt Gosewehr, Stephanie (Justin) Urban, Cody (Mary Leigh) Lanser, Alexis, Jordan, and Seth Lanser, Kyle Rismeyer, Erika (Adam) Daane, and McKenna, Madison and Mallory Zwicker, her great-grandson Jameson Ford Urban, three sisters: Helen (Butch) Grabau, Donna (Tom) Gauthier, and Linda (Jeff) Trende, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cal, her daughter Teresa Gosewehr, and her sister Marilyn Davis.
Funeral services for Muriel will be celebrated on Monday, June 26, 2023, at 5 PM, at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, 505 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington.
A visitation will take place at the Church on Monday the 26th from 3-5 PM.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband, daughter, and sister in Union Cemetery, Port Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church.
