Obituary

MILTON W. SCHANEN Mr. Milt Schanen of Silver Beach North in the Town of Belgium passed away on September 2 2009 at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee.nbsp; He was 93 years old.nbsp; Milton was born on October 5 1915 in Lake Church son of Edward and Catherine Baus Schanen.nbsp;nbsp;After he finished high school Milt entered the US Army in 1941 and was sent overseas to serve in the European Theatre.nbsp; He left military service in 1945 as a 1st Lieutenant.nbsp;After service whilenbsp;livingnbsp;in Saukville henbsp;owned and operatednbsp;ldquo;Schanen Gardenrsquo;srdquo; sometimes called ldquo;Miltrsquo;s Clubrdquo;.nbsp;On June 5 1946 he was united in marriage with Lillian Fields at St. Rose Parish in Milwaukee.nbsp;nbsp;The couple settled in West Allis and Miltnbsp;owned and operatednbsp;a tavern called ldquo;Club Champagnerdquo;.nbsp; Mr. Schanen held many varied interested and business opportunities.nbsp; For many years he ran Schanen Trucking a company that hauled sand gravel and other components for construction but he was also a salesman in different areas including wholesale oil advertising and automobiles.nbsp; Milton and his wife wintered in Florida for many years in the River View area and moved back to the Belgium area a few years ago.nbsp; Mr. Schanen was a member of Friedens Evangelical Church in Port Washington as well as being a member of the Saukville American Legion Post 470 and a former member of Saukville Fire Department.nbsp; Some of his many hobbies included his 1967 Austin Healey the Austin Healey Car Club of Tampa Bay the Sports Car Club of America going to car shows and watching NASCAR racing. As involved as he may have gotten with his other interests however he always put his family first.nbsp; Milton is survived by his wife Lillian and their three children: Robert A. (Dawn) Schanen of Brookfield Trent W. (Karen) Schanen of Cedar Grove and Cheryl L (Marvin) Steliga of Prentice. He is further survived by six grandchildren: Trent Blake Jason Brian Nicole and Brenda ten great-grandchildren nieces nephews other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by one brother Edward J. Schanen and two sisters Celeste Kessler and Alice Cattani. Funeral Services will be held at 6PM on Tuesday September 8 2009 at Friedens Evangelical Church 454 N. Milwaukee St. in Port Washington with Pastor Brandon Lemons officiating. Milton will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Tuesday afternoon from 4-6PM.nbsp;nbsp;Memorials are suggested to Friedens Evangelical Church or American Legion Post #470 in Saukville. br /Service:br /pnbsp;6:00 PM at Friedens Evangelical Church 454 N.
