Mildred Ann (Nee Roden) Schumacher, of Grafton, a cherished soul of 100 years, departed from this world on December 16, 2023, at Lawlis Family Hospice. She was born on November 7, 1923, daughter of Peter and Coletta (nee Knaff) Roden. Mildred led a life defined by compassion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to family and friends. While working at Grob Inc. she met and married the love of her life, Edward Schumacher on November 8, 1947, with whom she shared 49 years of special memories. As a devoted spouse, parent, grandma, great-grandma, and aunt, she was blessed with a family of eight children, 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, with boundless love for them. She is preceded in death by her husband Edward, her parents, and her sister Marion Lorge.

Mildred worked at Smith Bros. restaurant for 19 years and taught at MATC and the Grafton Yarn Store. She had a passion for crocheting and utilizing her talents to make teddy bears, blankets and lap robes for St. Mary's Hospital and Horizon Hospice, weaving warmth and love into every stitch. Millie's handmade bears were often given to military personnel and traveled throughout the world. Her handcrafted creations became cherished heirlooms for her family and friends, embodying the care and dedication she poured into everything she touched.

Millie's zest for life extended beyond her creative realms. She delighted in travel, reading, crossword puzzles and especially family gatherings, where laughter and love flowed freely. Her home was a haven of warmth and hospitality, reflection of her deep-seated belief in the importance of shared moments and connections. Her enduring legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and a genuine concern for the well -being of others.
