Obituary

Mr. Michael (Mike) Dahm, of Cascade, formerly of the Town of Belgium, passed away at his home in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 22, 2017. He was 95 years old. Mike was born in Belgium on March 13, 1922, son of Peter Dahm and Elizabeth Meyer Dahm. He grew up on the family farm in the Town of Belgium, and started farming at an early age. On November 28, 1942, he married Julia Ruppert at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church. The couple farmed in the Town of Belgium until her death in 1987. On April 16, 1991, he married Shirley Ewert Liermann. Shirley enjoyed traveling with Mike in his truck as he delivered hay to area farmers. She preceded him in death in 2008. Mike took over his father's hay business when he was 19 years old. He continued his life's work until the age of 90. Mike's enjoyment was fulfilled by the relationships he made with his customers and he was a pioneer in the way hay was distributed in the United States. His family is very proud of his 70 years of dedicated work. Mike is a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish. He enjoyed working the land on his 95 acres in Cascade, and really loved going out to eat, especially at Pam's Café in Plymouth. Mr. Dahm is survived by seven children: Clarence (Nancy) Dahm of Fredonia, Roger Dahm of West Bend, Donald (Mary) Dahm of Howards Grove, Gary (Lori) Dahm of Belgium, Dennis Dahm of Belgium, and Monica (Peter) Deheck of Howards Grove. He is further survived by daughters-in-law Cheryl Dahm of Elkhart Lake, Doreen Dahm and Bonnie Dahm, both of the Town of Belgium, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, five step-children: Scott (Bev) Liermann, Andrew (Pamela) Liermann, Shawn Leirmann and Julie Leirmann and Jonathan Liermann, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his two wives, Julia and Shirley, three sons, James, Richard and Douglas and two great-grandchildren Adam and Daisy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish/St.Nicholas Chapel Decada with Father Richard Cerpich presiding over Mass. He will be laid to rest next to his first wife in St. Mary Parish Cemetery in Lake Church. Visitation will take place at the CHURCH from 10:00AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Our Lady of the Lakes Parish. A special thank you to Mike's grandson Randy Dahm for his care and close relationship. To the medical staff at St. Nicholas Hospital and Hospice for their excellent care and for the spiritual guidance of Chaplain Liz in his home.
