Michael C. Melichar

Mr. Michael Melichar, known to many as "Iron Mike", passed away unexpectedly in the early evening hours of Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at his residence. He was 43 years old.

Mike was born in Port Washington on June 25, 1979, son of Benjamin and Cheryl (nee Graham) Melichar. Mike grew up in the Town of Port Washington and attended Port Washington High School. After high school, Mike started working as a mechanical specialist at Port Yamaha, a job that highlighted his incredible knowledge of his mechanical skills. Mike also worked for the Ozaukee County Golf Courses, and started his own business, Iron Mike Repair Service.

In 2016, Mike started I.M. Tree Service. He was very proud of his engineered tree removal crane, a crane he designed and built himself.

On November 26, 2015, he married Selma Celikovic at Blue Herron in Saukville. Shortly after, the couple was able to buy a house in the Town of Port Washington to start raising their family.

Mike is survived by his wife Selma, his two children Emma and Jake, all of the Town of Port Washington, his parents Ben and Cheryl Melichar of Fredonia, and his brother Jason (Laura) Melichar and their children Grace, Addeline, and Blake. He is further survived by his in-laws Hajrudin and Taiba Celikovic, sister-in-law Nerma (Arnes) Handzic and their children Sadin and Timur, his brother-in-law Kasim Celikovic, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Ben and Grace Melichar, Charles and Shirley Graham, his uncle Dan Melichar and his favorite uncle Jim Melichar.

A service celebrating Mike's life will take place on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 6 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W Grand Ave., Port Washington.

Visitation will precede the services at the funeral home on Thursday the 5th from 4-6 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for his children's future education.
