Mike Kultgen, of Fredonia, passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 8, 2020. He was 81 years old.
Mike was born in 1939 in Milwaukee, son of Anthony "Tony" Kultgen and Sylvia Goral Kultgen. Mike grew up in Port Washington and attended Port Washington High School where he was a star athlete and state champion in track. After high school, Mike started his career as a welder. Mike proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army. After his discharge, he continued his career as a welder, working for over 33 years for Falk Corporation, retiring in 1998.
Mr. Kultgen was a very patriotic citizen and was lucky enough to go on the Honor Flight in November of 2018. He is a member of the Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Post 82 in Port Washington. In 2019, Mike was named Legionnaire of the Year and was placed on the Port Washington High School Wall of Honor. He was also a member of the Port Washington Leatherneck Club, the Model A Ford Club of America, Wisconsin Chapter, and ABATE. He was a lifelong Harley Davidson rider, buying his first motorcycle at the age of 16, and had a passion for antique cars.
Mike is survived by his daughter Karry Kultgen and his ex-wife and loving companion Gloria Erickson, both of Fredonia. He is further survived by two sisters Kathy Wendt and Sally (Jim) Erickson, both of Port Washington, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his twin sister Mary Kultgen and brothers John and Paul Kultgen.
In accordance with Mike's wishes, his body will be cremated and laid to rest with military honors at St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Washington on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 1 PM.
