Mr. Mike Dowling passed away Thursday evening, February 8, 2018, at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, following a lengthy battle with heart disease. He was 67 years old.
Michael was born on March 22, 1950 in Milwaukee, son of John R. and Elisabeth Bogue Dowling. He grew up in Thiensville and attended local schools, graduating from Homestead High School in 1968 and UW Oshkosh in 1973. He began his career at Sprinkmanns on May 13, 1973.
Mr. Dowling was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Grafton. He was a passionate Wisconsin Badger basketball and football fan, as well as an avid Marquette Basketball fan, and bowled in local leagues for over 30 years. While some others may enjoy travel, Mike enjoyed staying home; he was a kind, loving man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 44 years, Margaret, their three children: Karyn (fiancé John Los) Dowling of Milwaukee, Brian Dowling of Chicago, IL and Matthew (Lindsay) Dowling of Westchester, IL, and grandchildren Connor & Claire Dowling, also of Westchester. He is further survived by sisters Patricia (Terry) Leonardelli of Thiensville and Maureen (Ted) Balistreri of Mequon, brothers Tim (Nancy) Dowling of Cedarburg, Dennis (Lisa) Dowling of Lakewood, CO, Kevin (Paula) Dowling of Rockford, IL and Dan Dowling of Chiang Mai, Thailand, father-in-law Thomas Adams of Arlington Heights, IL, and brothers-in-law Daniel (Michelle) Adams of Oceanside, CA and Jim (Mary) Adams of Lake Zurich, IL. Other survivors include nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:30PM on Monday, February 19th at St. Joseph Parish, 1619 Washington St., Grafton. Father Mike Barrett will preside. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Monday from 2:30PM until services at 4:30PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or to the Salvation Army.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and nurses of the CVICU at St. Luke's Hospital.
