Obituary

Michael Brendemuehl

July 20, 1964 - January 22, 2023

Went to his eternal home on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at the age of 58. He was a devoted husband to Kate for 36 years, loving father to Cassie (Alex), Sarah (Ryan), and Nikki, a treasured grandfather to Penelope, Ophelia, Jameson, and Daphne, and younger brother to Steve.

Mike grew up in Mequon where he attended Trinity Lutheran Church and School. Mike's mom, Jean, instilled in him an unwavering love for the Lord, which gave him comfort and strength throughout his entire life. He faithfully attended church services with his family. Mike and Kate took great joy raising their daughters in the faith and were proud to see their grandchildren being raised in the faith as well. Mike's dad, Herb, shared his love of hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors, which led to many meaningful trips as a family.

Mike became an apprentice for P/S Electric during high school. He enjoyed working as an electrician so much that he made it his career. His dedication and strong work ethic allowed him to build up his company, Powers Electric. He truly loved going to work each day and was proud of the work he did. Mike was a jack of all trades and no matter who needed help, Mike would be there.

Throughout his lifetime, Mike made many deep friendships from different areas of his life. He made countless memories with his friends hunting in Colorado and with the Deer Camp group, fishing in Mississippi, playing softball, feeding and building close relationships with those at the jobsite, and planning gatherings. He was president of the Thiensville Ballplayers Association for 15+ years. He loved playing ball and grilling out for the masses, and everyone at the diamond will remember his delicious food and camaraderie. Everyone who knew Mike knew he had a heart of gold. He was a genuine, hard working, dependable, honest, and charismatic man. He knew no stranger and welcomed everyone with his warm smile and infectious laugh.

Mike met the love of his life, Kate, in 1984 and together they raised three amazing daughters, Cassie, Sarah, and Nikki. Mike was the best husband and father to his girls. He freely and happily gave his time to them, attending every school program and sporting event that his girls participated in. He loved helping them however he could, whether with homework (especially history and religion), coaching their sports teams, or moving them in and out of dorms, apartments, and homes. Mike was proud to share his passions with them, and like his father before him, he taught them how to hunt and fish. He'd drive anywhere and do anything for his girls. The pride he felt in them was unmatched.

Each of the girls had a special relationship with their dad. Most notably, Mike and Nikki spent thousands of hours bonding over the Brewers and attending games together; with Sarah, he loved making her ambitious projects into reality, especially, for her wedding and home; with Cassie, they both enjoyed cooking food and eating delicious meals with the family; and for his grandkids, he loved building play equipment and fixing toys and trinkets that were broken. He and Kate taught the girls how to be the best sisters, friends, parents, and people. In the words of Kate, "he was the best person we knew."

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Jean, his brother Mark, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, as well as cherished friends.
