MELVIN O. VOLD "Smoky"
Mr. Melvin Vold of Port Washington passed away at his residence Saturday evening, October 24, 2015. He was 69 years old. Melvin was born in Wanamingo, MN on December 3, 1945, son of Ole and Marion Gunderson Vold. He moved to Wisconsin in 1964 for work and shortly thereafter met Donna Werlein. The couple were married on July 1, 1967 at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Saukville. They settled in the Town of Port Washington and started their family.
Mr. Vold worked in construction as a cement finisher and bridge builder. Most recently, he worked for Dixson Construction, retiring in 2000. Smoky liked being outside, and enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, ice-fishing and hunting; he also enjoyed shooting pool, but he treasured time spent with his family and grandchildren.
Melvin is survived by his wife Donna, their daughter Tracy (Dennis) Fisher of West Bend and six grandchildren: Alexis Kemp, Dawson, Xavier, Jada, Emmanuel and Layla Fisher, all of West Bend. He is further survived by four sisters: Joanne (the late Calvin) Salefske of Taylorville, IL, Christine (the late Donnie) Scholing of Cannon Falls, MN, Karen Johnson of Red Wing, MN and Sonja (Mike) Landon, also of Cannon Falls, 2 brothers: Joel (Janet) Vold of Cannon Falls and Charles (Teri) Vold of Red Wing, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by grandson Linkin Paul Fisher, his parents and sisters Katherine Roth and Diane Murphy.
Funeral Services will be held at 5PM on Friday, October 30th at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 166 W. Dekora Street in Saukville. The family will receive visitors at the church on Friday from 3PM until services at 5PM. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers.
