Ms. Megan Schaefer, of Belgium, formerly of Port Washington, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Froedert Hospital in Wauwatosa. She was 65 years old.
Megan was born on April 12, 1957, daughter of Charles and AnnaRuth (nee Gahan) Schaefer. She grew up in Port Washington and attended Port Washington High School, graduating with the class of 1975. While in high school, Megan was very active in the Windjammers Drum and Bugle Corps. One of Megan's true joys in life was watching her nieces and nephews, and later her great-nieces and nephews compete in sports. Megan had a very kind heart. During the pandemic she volunteered to help buy groceries for people who could not leave their homes. Megan was a member of St. John XXIII Parish in Port Washington, a former EMT for the Port Washington Fire Department, a former CPR instructor, and a passionate volunteer for the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight since 2011.
Megan is survived by her three siblings: Kathy (Jack) Peiffer of Belgium, Peggy (Geoff) Greiveldinger of Racine, Kelly (Terri) Schaefer of Eagle River, and her sister-in-law Carolyn (the late Charles Jr.) Schaefer of Wauwatosa. She is further survived by 11 nieces and nephews, 25 great-nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and AnnaRuth and her brother Charles Jr.
