Maurice Griffin, of Saukville, passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee on Friday, November 4, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. He was 65 years old. Maurice was born to John and Margaret (nee Colbert) Griffin on June 20, 1951 in Ireland. He married Kathleen Leach on September 7, 1991 in Grafton, WI at the Stonecroft chapel.
Maurice was a meat cutter at area butcher shops and later a groundskeeper at Fireridge Golf Course. He sold beef jerky for Mike's Country Meats and was known as the "Jerky Man" to customers at local businesses. Maurice was a sports enthusiast, often enjoying a game of golf and watching Irish Rugby. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and activities. He was a long time attendee of Irishfest and loved Irish music and food, making his own famous soda bread and corned beef.
Maurice is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kathy, his brother Jerome (Theresa) Griffin, and sister Caroline Griffin, both of Ireland, three stepdaughters: Corinne (Anthony) Coffey of Cedarburg, Jill (Donald Peterson) Gall of Saukville and Lynn Gall of Monona; grandchildren, Sara Kuester, Donald Peterson Jr., Drew Bauer, Evan Bauer and Melanie Coffey; great-grandchildren, Dylan Ward, Lily Skaros and Oliver Skaros. He is further survived by other relatives and friends and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
Per Maurice's request, no formal service will be held, however memorials in Maurice's name may be sent to the cancer related charity of your choice.
