In their later years, the couple enjoyed traveling and went on trips including Hawaii, Ireland, Alaska, California, Florida and Arizona. Leo preceded MaryJane in death in 2000.

Mrs. Fechter was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Lakes – St. Mary Chapel in Random Lake and a member of the Christian Mothers group at St. Nicholas Dacada. She enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead, as well as slots and Bingo.
