Mary Jane Woelfl
Jane was born in Milwaukee, WI on September 18, 1945 to Walter and Dorothy (Becker) Czisny. She passed away at the Vitas Hospice in Wauwatosa, WI on December 21, 2015 after a 2 year battle with brain cancer. God created the kindest, most loving and compassionate person in Jane. She was a feisty little girl, a bit of a tomboy, could run like the wind and her Dad gave her the nickname of Butch. She grew up on Palmer, 42nd, and 56th streets in Milwaukee. She attended St Elizabeth, Holy Redeemer and Our Lady of Good Hope Grade Schools. She graduated from Granville High School in 1963 and was involved in virtually everything. In January, 1969 Jane graduated with a BS degree in Elementary Education from UW-Oshkosh. Jane is a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She began her teaching career in the Milwaukee Public School system and taught at Benjamin Franklin and Grantosa Elementary Schools. Jane also taught at St. Peters in Beaver Dam and all of the elementary schools in the Port Washington-Saukville School District. Teaching was her true passion. It was what she loved to do and it brought her great joy and satisfaction. She retired in 2001and became a recreational artist, cyclist, kayaker and quilter. Jane was also a volunteer at the Food Pantry in Port Washington. She was Chairman of their annual school supply collection and it was her passion each August.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Kathleen. She is survived by her husband of 46 years Bob and their son Rob. Also survived by her sister Cindy (Dennis) Szymakowski of Brown Deer, brother Tom (Mary) Czisny of Waukesha, nieces, nephews and countless friends
A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 131 N Webster, Port Washington, on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Visitation will be from 10:00 -12:00 with the service beginning at 12:00. A luncheon will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers please make all memorial gifts to the The Food Pantry, Inc., 1800 N Wisconsin St, Port Washington, WI, 53074. It will be used for their school supply distribution efforts.
