Obituary

Mary W. Schowalter Mary Schowalter of Port Washington formerly of Sebring FL passed away in the evening hours of Saturday March 3 2012 at Lasata Care Center where she had been a resident. She was 90 years old. Mary was born in Royalton IL on January 29 1922 daughter of Alex and Annie Raeburn Barclay. On May 17 1941 she married Jerome Bud Schowalter at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. Mary was the mother of 11 children grandmother of 14 and the great-grandmother of 24. She worked part-time at both Smith Bros. Restaurant and the J.J. Schowalter Co. Knitting was her livelihood her sanity and her mastery. Knitting made her happy but she also knitted to make others happy. She has knit over 800 personalized Christmas stockings that are in states all across the country and also in eight other countries. Mary's other hobbies included playing Scrabble cribbage canasta and doing crossword puzzles. She is survived by her 11 children; Barbara (Kip) Lange of Oconomowoc and Florida Dorothy (Carl) Sjoberg of Long Beach CA Mariann (Tom) Ritzer of Hartland David (Mary Ann) Schowalter of Appleton Betty (Steve) Beckmann of Grafton Nancy Schowalter Bergman (Bob) of Blanchardville WI Paul Schowalter of Baraboo WI Carl (Kathy) Schowalter of Port Washington and Amy Schowalter of Florida 14 grandchildren 24 great grandchildren daughter-in-law Sandy Schowalter of Port Washington her brother John Barclay of Canton IL nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband two sons William and Jerold grandson Steven Ritzer six brothers; James William Alexander George Dave and Andy Barclay and her sister Annie Richter. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 6th at 4 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. with Deacon Ron Schneider officiating. Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Washington. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday March 6th from 2-4 PM.
