Mrs. Mary Schroeder of Cedarburg, formerly of Grafton and Glendale, passed away at Lasata Care Center Saturday afternoon, October 6, 2018. She was 83 years old.
Mary was born in Milwaukee on August 7, 1935, daughter of Jerome and Florence Lynch Holzbauer. She was united in marriage with John Schroeder on October 14th 1958 and the couple lived in West Allis for 13 years, moving to Glendale after and finally retiring to Grafton in 1998. Mrs. Schroeder was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Grafton and had been quite active in parish activities prior to her move to Lasata. She was a member of a singing group that went to area nursing homes to entertain residents, and she and John had both been Eucharistic ministers. Mary had worked as a clerk at Kohls Department Store in Glendale (Bayshore) for 20 years. She enjoyed knitting, bowling and traveling with her husband; they enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Pennsylvania, California and other spots out west, as well as numerous cruises. Mary loved to shop almost as much as she loved her grandchildren, and her grandkids fondly remember trips to Kohls Department Store to pick out wonderful things with Grandma.
Survivors include three sons: Daniel, William and Thomas Schroeder, all of Brown Deer, son-in-law David Weickert of West Bend, four grandchildren: Amy, David, Brandon and Amber and two great-grandchildren: Austin and Mya. She is further survived by her brother Jerome (JoEl) Holzbauer of Milwaukee, sisters Ann (Joe) Linskin of Elm Grove and Susie (Mark) Gormican of Wauwatosa, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband John and their daughter Therese Weickert.
