Mary Lou Messenger, 89, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, January 29, 2025 at the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, WI in the presence of close family. Mary was born on November 3, 1935, to Cora Mae (Haun) and Fred William Jesser in Faith, South Dakota. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Dennis Edward Messenger, and her four older brothers: Gordon, Fred Jr. "Slim", Roy "Russ" and George Jesser. Mary is survived by her two sons Michael Dennis (wife Judy) Messenger and Marc Drew (wife JoEllen) Messenger and her two granddaughters: Savannah Rose (husband Richard) Yacovoni and Sierra Dawn Messenger, and her three great-grandsons: Austin Albert, Vincent Marc, and Joseph Richard Yacovoni. Mary was also a beloved aunt to Russ and Jean's children: Rusty, Carolyn, Susan, and John Jesser and George and Betty's children: Don, Ron, Tom, and Lonnie Jesser.
Mary lived much of her life in Twin Falls, Idaho. She graduated from Filer High School in 1954 then attended college in Edmonton, Canada where she majored in music with concentrations in voice and piano. Mary and Dennis were married on June 24, 1955. Mary worked with the Twin Falls School District for 25 years. In retirement, Mary and Dennis enjoyed wintering in Lake Havasu, AZ and spoiling their two granddaughters. Mary spent her final years living close to her son and daughter-in-law, Marc and JoEllen, in Port Washington, WI at Lincoln Village.
Mary's legacy lives on through her family. She is remembered for her love of music, sewing, and her granddaughters.
