MARY L. GIERACH Mrs. Mary Gierach of Riverbend Road in the Town of Grafton passed away early Wednesday morning September 17 2014 at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon. She was 81 years old. Mary was born in Marion IL on July 11 1933 daughter of Robert and Grace Morse Durfee. When she was a child the family moved to Cedarburg and opened Durfee's Tavern. Mary attended local schools playing basketball in high school and continued on to cosmetology school. She was united in marriage with Roman Joseph Gierach on December 6 1954 at Immanuel Church in Cedarburg. The couple settled in town and raised their family. Roman preceded her in death in 1973. Mrs. Gierach worked as an Office Administrator for 1st Southwestern Title Company in Mequon retiring in 2007 after over 30 years on the job. Mary was a member of First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg and enjoyed crocheting sewing and knitting. She was an avid reader liked to travel and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles as well. In her youth Mary developed a rich love of music and played in the high school band. She also followed and supported the Cedarburg Drum Bugle Corps since the early 1970's. Mrs. Gierach is survived by her four sons: Richard Gierach of Grafton Ryan (Marcus) Gierach of West Hollywood CA Kevin (Isabel) Gierach also of Grafton and Stuart Gierach of Little Rock AK 6 grandchildren: Leah Sean Joshua Erick Lizbeth and Caitlyn. She is further survived by 2 great-grandchildren: Tatum and Liam brother Robert (Patti) Durfee of Sheboygan sister Donna Feldes of Fond du Lac nieces nephews other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Memorial Services will be held at 6:30 PM on Monday September 22 at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1167 Washington Ave. Cedarburg. Pastor Randy Raasch will preside. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 4:30 -6:30 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Lawlis Family Hospice in lieu of flowers.
