Obituary

Mark J. Miller passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 6, 2022. He was 70 years old. Mark was born in Milwaukee on June 21, 1951, son of Jack and Audrey (nee Burns) Miller. He was raised in Wauwatosa and attended St. Jude Grade School before graduating from Wauwatosa East High School, Class of 1969. He later attended UW-Whitewater and UW-Milwaukee. Mark met the love of his life, Jan Hogoboom, and they were united in marriage in 1978. After living on the Eastside of Milwaukee for a short time, they found their forever home in the countryside of Waubeka next to historic Stony Hill School. This is where they have spent the last 43 years. Mark loved cooking, grilling, hosting parties, and caring for their lawn and gardens. He was a dedicated father who loved watching his children play sports and then his grandchildren as well. The couple made many wonderful memories traveling with their family and friends. Their two favorite spots have always been Key Colony Beach, Florida, and Boyd's Mason Lake Resort in the northern woods of Wisconsin. Mark started his career in the financial services industry in 1972 at Loewi & Company (presently Wells Fargo after many acquisitions) where he worked for 36 years and then finished his career at Robert W. Baird, retiring in 2017. He enjoyed cutting the fairways at Hawthorne Hills golf course in his retirement. Mark is survived by his loving wife Jan, children Sarah (Justin) Ludwig of Fox Point, Samantha (Aaron) Peterka of Whitefish Bay, John "JJ" Miller of Madison, and David (Mackenzie) Miller of Port Washington and grandchildren Jordan, Quinten, Mason, Riley, Quinn, Stella, Audrey, Sydney, and Juliette. He is further survived by brothers Brian and Paul (Laurie) Miller, sisters Beth (Dr. Patrick) McWey and Gail (Steve) Hock, other family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Belford Hogoboom, grandson Kellen Ludwig, and niece Jan Hyatt.
