Mark Francis Higgins (51) of Port Washington, WI passed away peacefully on Friday morning, October 21, 2016, at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon, following a courageous battle with cancer. Just days before, on October 16, he married his sweetheart, Erin Arthur, officially uniting their family of three with son, Andrew by their side.
Mark was born in Paisley, Renfrewshire in Scotland, son of Daniel and Elizabeth (Rigley) Higgins, later moving to England, where he attended Samuel Pepys School in St. Neots, Cambridgeshire.
Mark later immigrated to the United States, living in Colorado and California before moving to Wisconsin, where he attended Milwaukee School of Engineering and was a member of the Triangle fraternity. He most recently worked as a mechanical engineer at Ludman Industries in Milwaukee.
Mark enjoyed rock climbing, cycling, sailing, canoeing, mixed martial arts, and science fiction. More recently, his activities centered around family, sharing his love of mechanics, astronomy, camping and movies with his son.
Mark is survived by his wife, Erin Arthur and their son, Andrew Arthur; parents Dan and Betty Higgins, siblings Alison Attard, Jocelyn Higgins (Peter Trull), and Danny Higgins (Clare Foody), all of England. Mark is further survived by his mother-in-law Wendy Arthur of Athens, GA; father-in-law David Arthur (Laurie Sucharda) and sister-in-law Marie Arthur, of Port Washington; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, other family, and many friends in the United States and abroad. Mark was preceded in death by his beloved German Shepherd, Adia.
A Memorial Service celebrating Mark's life will be held at 6PM on Sunday, October 30th at First Congregational Church, 131 N. Webster St., Port Washington, with Pastor Jeff Suddendorf presiding. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Sunday from 4:30PM until services at 6PM.
