It is with profound sadness and love that we announce the passing of Mark G. Buntrock. Mark, of Grafton, WI left this world peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026. He was 65.

Mark was born in Milwaukee and was the son of Thomas and Kathleen (Halstead) Buntrock. From an early age, he carried a quick wit and a sense of humor that stayed with him throughout his life, even in his final days. Mark had a personable nature, a strong moral compass, and a presence defined by honesty and straightforwardness. He especially loved making his wife giggle, something he did effortlessly and often.

In his youth, Mark was a standout track star at Homestead High School, especially excelling in the 200-meter race where he’s still on the Homestead wall of fame. Mark’s sprinting skills earned him the nickname “Bunny” for the speed and lightness he carried on the track. That passion stayed with him, and he later coached track at Homestead and Grafton High schools. He shared his love of the sport and encouraged young athletes with the same enthusiasm and focus that defined him.

Mark found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved watching sports, especially when his grandchildren were the ones competing. He enjoyed playing golf, shooting, listening to music, and spinning his collection of records. Card games were a favorite pastime, especially sheepshead and poker, and he never missed a chance to stop at Oostburg Bakery for treats. He also loved going out to eat, always with one rule: no pickle on his plate, a detail his family will forever smile about.

Mark is survived by his wife, Mary (Garni) Buntrock, and his children: Tamara (Buntrock) Haag and her husband Adam Haag, Thomas Buntrock and Callie Honkala, and Amanda (McDonnell) Davidson and her husband Eric Davidson.

Mark was a proud grandfather to Kennedy and Addison Haag, Andrew Joseph Buntrock, Austin Delaney, and Kylah and Jais Videkovich.

He is also survived by his brothers: Chris and Claire (Nelson) Buntrock, Jeff Buntrock and Jill Langlois, and Dan and Chrissy (Woyak) Buntrock.

Mark is further survived by a large extended family, including in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends who loved him deeply. He was always ready with a joke, a story, or a laugh that brought people together.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Kathleen Buntrock; step-father, Peter Hume; father-in-law, Erhard Garni; brother-in-law, Reiner Zernikel and other beloved relatives and friends who passed before him.

His humor, his warmth, and his unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A visitation will take place from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg, WI 53012. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at St. Francis Borgia Church - North, 1375 Covered Bridge Road, Cedarburg, WI 53012. Mark will be laid to rest in a private ceremony of immediate family at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Cemetery, Mequon
