Obituary

MARION A. ERNSTER Mrs. Marion Ernster passed away Saturday evening November 17th while surrounded by her family at her home in Belgium. She was 72 years old. She was born in Milwaukee on June 6 1940 daughter of Frank and Anna Ruff Thompson. After attending local schools Marion graduated from Divine Savior / Holy Angels in Milwaukee with the Class of 1958. She was united in marriage with Edward George Ernster at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Milwaukee on August 19 1961. The couple moved to Ozaukee County and settled in Port Washington to raise their family. George and Marion ran George's Knot Inn a tavern in downtown Port Washington for many years. They were well known for being giving caring people. For many years the entire family helped put on Thanksgiving dinner at the establishment for people who had nowhere else to go. George preceded her in death in 2002. Marion also worked as a production assembly worker at Rexnord in Grafton retiring in 2003 after 15 years on the job. Mrs. Ernster moved to Belgium in 2007. Marion was very involved with her children and grandchildren and spent a lot of time helping other people. She is survived by her three children: Daniel (Linnea) Ernster of Saukville Elizabeth (Craig) Collins also of Saukville and Barbara (Charles) Giles of Belgium. She is further survived by 12 grandchildren 1 sister Lynne (Gino) Castro of Baghdad AZ nieces nephews other relatives and many dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents her husband granddaughter Callie Lathrop sister Frannie Koening and brother Chuck Thompson. Funeral Services will be held at 7PM on Wednesday November 21 at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington. Father Jim Ernster will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7PM.
