Obituary

On Sunday September 22nd, 2024, the Prom family lost the glue to their beloved household Marie, when she went to her heavenly home with Jesus. She was 87 years old.

Marie was born in the Town of Belgium on February 6, 1937, daughter of Arthur and Julia (née Kraus) Uselding. She attended local schools before continuing her education with a Business degree from Milwaukee Business Institute.

On June 22, 1957, Marie married the love of her life, Robert Prom, at St. Mary Catholic Church- Lake Church. The couple eventually settled in Lake Church, where they lived for over 60 years. Marie held down the fort at home and raised four children, sometimes working at Uselding's grocery store (owned by her parents), Krier's Canning, and Quick Mix, and later taking a teller position with Port Washington State Bank, where she made many friends at both the Belgium and Port Washington branches.

Marie was a faithful member of Divine Savior Parish and primarily worshiped at St. Mary's Lake Church until the parish closed and the building was sold. She was a member of the Christian Women, frequently baked for the Food Mission at St. Ben's, and assisted with the Food Pantry in Lake Church.

Faith and family meant everything to Marie and she built a beautiful life with Robert surrounding those elements. She adored her kids, her grandkids and great grandchildren, and was the happiest when they were all around. She loved flowers and had a great green thumb that was evident in all her gardens. She was an avid reader and in the later years loved to catch up on everything with her iPad. She loved music and played the accordion, in her earlier years you could find her at festivals or hear her on the radio doing duets with her long time friend Pat Large. Marie always had a love for animals, especially cats, and this flourished when the kids moved out and her beloved Bobby and Brauny moved in. There's a sign in the home that states "we got rid of the kids, cats were allergic." One thing she truly missed was dancing. Her stories, her memories often took you back to the times her and Robert danced the night away with polkas and waltzes. Robert and Marie built their marriage on a solid foundation and were great examples of how love should be to not only their families but to all they encountered.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband Bob, their children Michael (Ann) Prom, Christopher (Linda) Prom, Michelle Runke, and Melissa (Troy) Prom - Majewski, 11 grandchildren: Becky (Sanford) Swanson, Eric (Jennifer) Prom, Ben Prom, Julia Runke, Kyle Runke, Andy (Chloe) Prom, Grace Prom, Molly Prom, Riley, Madyson, and Bennett Majewski. She is further survived by 8 great-grandchildren: Kyra, Anele, Sanford III "Trip", Aubrey, Adelyn, Izan, Amia, and Owen; brothers John (Donna) Uselding of Fort Worth Texas and Arthur (Ann) Uselding of Appleton; brothers-in law Alan (Joanne), and Fred (Judy); as well as by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Marie is preceded in death by infant son Stephen, and sister Geraldine Uselding, both whom she missed dearly and longed to see again, as well as by her parents Art and Julia Uselding and parents-in-law Joseph and Hildegard Prom.

We were always greeted with a big smile and left with a big hug and kiss. Our broken hearts are full with all she gave us.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Divine Savior Parish – Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 County Hwy B, Belgium. Father Neil Zinthefer will preside. Marie will be laid to rest at St. Mary Parish Cemetery – Lake Church, at a later date. The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday, October 5th from 9AM until Mass begins at 11AM.

We would like to thank all the doctors and nurses that attended to Marie over the years. A special thank you to Michelle Bush NP who was very loved by Marie and her family, and always took extra time to make everyone feel comfortable and understood.
