Marie A. Miilu, age 93 passed away at Harbor Cove on Sunday, May 29, 2016. She was born on March 13, 1923 in Port Washington to Edward and Magdalena (nee Sceper) Zausch.
Marie enjoyed gardening, baking/cooking and giving her time to others. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for over 20 years. Marie was also the oldest member of a team who made chemo caps for people battling cancer. She had a sparkle in her eye and a big heart. Marie was very kind, generous and always welcomed others. Above all, her family and friends meant the most to her.
Marie and her husband Mike enjoyed traveling. They took trips annually to visit relatives in Michigan and Kansas City. They went out dancing with friends and took occasional trips to Las Vegas.
Marie is survived by her children Cindy (Brian) Miilu-Draper of Cedarburg and Lori (Curt) Wiskirchen of Liberty, MO: grandchildren Michael and Elliott Wiskirchen and brother-in-law John Willis. She is further survived by her special family in the U.P., dear friends Laura Walsh, Paul and Mary Taylor and many other family and friends. Marie is preceded in death by her husband Michael Miilu, brother Donald Zausch and sister Shirley Willis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 2 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington at 6:00 PM with Father Patrick Wendt presiding. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until the time of Mass. Marie will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Mary's Mausoleum in Port Washington on Friday, June 3 at 10:00 AM. Memorials in the memory of Marie Miilu will be forwarded to the Reinhart Chemo Cap Crew or to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff members of Harbor Club and Cove and the Vitas Hospice team for all the care, friendship and compassion they provided Marie.
