Obituary

Marianne Hoerig, of Port Washington, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Milan Estates in Saukville where she had been a resident. Marianne was born in Mannheim, Germany on August 20, 1939, daughter of Josef Hart and Rosa Speck Hart. As a young woman, she met the love of her life, Helmut "Al" Hoerig while he was serving in the United States Army and stationed in Germany. The couple married in Mannheim, Germany on July 7, 1956, and shortly after moved to the United States. Marianne worked for over 30 years as a waitress at Smith Bros. Restaurant in Port Washington. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. Marianne enjoyed cooking, entertaining and socializing, bowling, playing Yahtzee, reading, listening to music and the occasional casino trip. She is survived by her three children: Sylvia (Skip) Flack of Port Washington, Richard (Hae Suk) of Port Washington and Monika (Chris) Netz of Milwaukee. She is further survived by longtime companion Donald Klumb of Port Washington, 11 grandchildren: David (Sara) Demge, Laura Demge, Alan Hoerig, Jack Flack III, Mathew Kaiser, Joshua Hoerig, Vinny Thompson, Rosemarie Thompson, Carrie Park, Mini Park and John Park, two great-grandchildren Ryan and Isabel, nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Al and her brother Herbert Hart. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 29th, at 6 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington. Pastor Bob Suhr from Christ Church in Mequon will preside over the service. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday, February 29th at the Funeral Home from 4-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the Port Washington Food Pantry.
