Mrs. Margaret Salm of Port Washington passed away Sunday morning, May 22, 2022 at Harbor Club in Port Washington where she had resided the last six years. She was 98 years old.
Margaret was born in Milwaukee on December 11, 1923, daughter of August and Rosalie Wnentkowski Rynski. She attended local schools and graduated from Riverside High School.
Marge was united in marriage with Gilbert Salm on August 17, 1946 at St. Gall's Catholic Church in Milwaukee. The couple settled in Milwaukee before moving to Port Washington in 1948. Mrs. Salm took a position at St. Alphonsus Hospital as the Personnel Secretary. She retired in 1984.
Mrs. Salm was a member of St. John XXIII Parish – St. Peter of Alcantara Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and socializing with friends. Marge also enjoyed golf and was a longstanding member of The Hawthorne Honeys. Marge and Gil traveled on adventures that included golfing in Europe, Monaco, Hawaii and Jamaica. Gil preceded her in death in 2001.
Survivors include her daughters Heidi (Gary) Holberg, Renee` (Van) Newell, Margo (David) Keller. Leslie (Charles) Lanser, son Gilbert (Darcell) Salm, and 13 grandchildren. She is further survived by 13 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Gil, 1 sister and 4 brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5pm on Tuesday, May 31st at St. John XXIII – St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will preside. Marge will be entombed beside her husband in St. Mary's Mausoleum, Port Washington following Mass. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Tuesday from 4pm until Mass at 5pm.
