Obituary

Mrs. Margaret Nehmer (nee Lohman) of Port Washington, formerly of Milwaukee, went home to her Lord and Savior early Wednesday morning, May 21, 2025. She was 87 years old.

Margaret was born in Milwaukee on August 3, 1937, the daughter of Paul and Mildred (nee Beckmann) Lohman. She attended local schools and graduated from West Division High School.

On May 21, 1960, Margaret was united in marriage with Alan Nehmer at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. They met at a bowling alley while Alan was bowling on a league and Marge was bowling with friends. The couple settled in Milwaukee and raised their family. They later moved to Port Washington in 1996.

Margaret was a receptionist for Dr. Cheek's orthodontics office in Brown Deer for many years. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton. Marge was a passionate knitter, and was affectionately known as "The Sock Lady" amongst her family and friends. Her grandchildren always looked forward to receiving hand-knit socks every year at Christmas. She loved playing board games with her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, yoga, bowling, taking golf lessons, completing crossword puzzles, and an occasional trip to the casino with her brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Alan, their children Timothy (Doreen) Nehmer of Milwaukee and Terri (Charles) Watry of Port Washington, grandchildren Tyler and Taylor Nehmer, Nicholas, Theodore, Hunter and Jacquelyn Watry. She is further survived by one great-grandson, Brady Nehmer, sisters Audrey Lohmann, Marion (the late Wayne) Legge, Bette Lohmann, and Tina (Gary) Brazgel, brother John (Carol) Lohman, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Marge is preceded in death by sister Patricia Lohman and brother Richard Lohman.

A Celebration of Margaret's life will be held at 3PM on Friday, May 30. 2025, at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Friday, May 30, from 2PM until services at 3PM.
