Margaret H. Hoffmann "Marge"

Margaret Hoffmann, a beloved member of the Port Washington community, peacefully passed away on December 5, 2023, in the company of her loving family. She was 88 years old.

Marge was born on February 17, 1935, the oldest daughter of Walter and Adeline (nee Sans) Dauska. She grew up in Port Washington, where she attended St. Mary's Grade School and later graduated from Port Washington High School with the class of 1953. Demonstrating her passion for education, Marge earned a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in 1957.

On June 29, 1957, Marge married the love of her life, Wayne Hoffmann, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. Their marriage would remain strong for 64 years until Wayne's passing in 2022.

Together, the couple operated Hoffmann's Pharmacy in Port Washington, a cherished establishment in the community. After retiring from the pharmacy, Marge continued to serve others as a part-time cashier at Walmart in Saukville for 15 years.

As a devoted member of St. John XXIII Parish, Marge's faith played an integral role in her life. She actively participated in the parish community, finding solace and inspiration in her faith journey.

Marge was known for her generosity and as an active volunteer. She devoted her time and energy to various endeavors including the Port Washington Jaycettes, the Port Washington Historical Society, and the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce, where she served as secretary. She was a dedicated Cub Scout leader, Girl Scout leader, and Girl Scout site coordinator.

Marge's caring nature was evident as one of the coordinators for the St. Ben's Meal Program, ensuring that those in need never went hungry. Her passion for her hometown also led her to serve on the committee that moved the Pebble House and the planning of the City of Port Washington's Sesquicentennial. She also served as a poll worker and enjoyed her time assisting voters.

In her free time, Marge had fun golfing with the Hawthorne Honeys. She enjoyed needlepoint and making candles, and also learned chair caning. She was an excellent cook and baker known for her Twinkie torte and Nackey cake.

Marge and Wayne enjoyed traveling and were fortunate to visit destinations like Hawaii and Alaska plus 45 other states, plus Panama, Switzerland, Germany, Russia, Mexico, Ireland, and other countries.

Left to cherish Marge's legacy are her three loving children: Paul (Jolee) Hoffmann, Anne (Richard) Brown, and Mary (Scott Quattromani) Hoffmann. She is further survived by seven grandchildren: Marc, Jamie, Matthew, Emily, Eleanor, Alexander, and Katarina, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, her two brothers Walter (Judy) and John (Jeanne) Dauska, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Adeline, and her husband Wayne.

Visitation for Marge will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 2:00 PM at St. John XXIII Parish - St. Peter of Alcantara Church, Port Washington, where family and friends can gather to remember her remarkable life. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 3:00 PM. Father Patrick Wendt will preside over the Mass.

Marge will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Mary's Parish Cemetery in Port Washington.
