Obituary

MARGARET A. DECKER Margaret Decker(nee Gutmann) formerly of Cedarburg and Saukville, passed away at Hamburg Home in Grafton on Wednesday evening, November 18, 2015, at the age of 92. Margaret was born in Milwaukee on July 3, 1923, daughter of George and Agnes Gutmann. She graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee and attended UW-LaCrosse where she met Thomas Decker. They were married on July 22, 1944 at St. Sebastian's Catholic Church in Milwaukee. The couple and their family of eleven children eventually settled in Cedarburg in 1964. Margaret later moved to Saukville in 1998. Her husband preceded her in death in 2003. Margaret was a member of St. Francis of Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg, and proudly sang in the choir for thirty years. She was a wonderful baker and made wedding cakes for others. Margaret also sang in the German Choir - DANK and enjoyed genealogy. She taught 4H Sewing for over 15 years and enjoyed crafts including knitting, crocheting and cross-stitch. Margaret loved animals, especially horses. Margaret is survived by her 11 children: Mary (Donald) Olsen of Sun City, AZ, Ann Wilson of San Antonio, TX, Grace (Earl) Tillman of Milwaukee, Jane (Greg) Elflein of Cedarburg, Susan (Jerre) Eckes of Chippewa Falls, Peg (William) Bors of Sarasota, FL, Thomas Decker, Jr. of Port Washington, Christine (Marty) Schubring of Menomonee Falls, Robert (Melanie) Decker of Plattsburgh, NY, Nancy Decker of Cedarburg and David (Ann) Decker of Edina, MN. She is further survived by 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, her sister Grace (the late Everett) Liesch of Round Lake, IL, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas and sister Jane (the late Joseph) Knofcynski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 25th at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church North, 1375 Covered Bridge Road, Cedarburg. Father Justin Lopina will preside. Margaret will be laid to rest beside her husband at Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee, later that day. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Wednesday from 9-10:30AM. At the request of the family, memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the dedicated and caring staff at Hamburg Home for the last 6 years of loving care.
