Mae A. Olson, 96, daughter of Harry and Bernice (nee King) Waas of Kenosha, WI passed away on January 1, 2021. Mae was born on July 20, 1924 and united in marriage to Clarence R. Olson on July 19, 1941.
Mae was an active volunteer of the Senior Center Meals on Wheels in Adell, WI. She and Clarence raised their family in Janesville, WI where Clarence was a radio engineer for W.C.L.O. He joined the Wisconsin Electric Service in West Bend, WI. Mae started a catering service in West Bend and catered for many organizations and weddings until 1965 when they bought "Old Fort Silver" in Silver Creek, WI and made it into a supper club. They sold that in 1972 and she worked as Food Service Supervisor at Samaritan Home in West Bend and Belair Convalescent Hospital in Milwaukee. She was also Food Service Supervisor at Lightfoot School in Sheboygan Falls for many years. Mae taught "Baking with Yeast" classes at night to adults for LTC for ten years. She ran the Random Lake Food Pantry for many years, retiring in 2009.
Clarence and Mae were members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Random Lake since 1965. She was very active at church and was a member of the Alter Guild and choir. Mae also catered the funerals and special events there for many years. She quilted with St. Paul's and embroidered the baptismal clothes over the years as well.
Mae is survived by her four children, Richard (Marsha) of Wauwatosa, Judy (Harold) Troedel of West Bend, Ronald (Lisa) of Oshkosh and James (Kacey) of Sheboygan. She is further survived by 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Clarence; parents Harry and Bernice Waas; 4 brothers, Leroy (Shirley), Barney (Mary Ann), Bobby and Richard (Mary); niece, Sandra Davis; nephew Benny Waas; great-granddaughter Julie; sister-in-law Clara Olson.
A Funeral Service for Mae will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church (705 Grand Ave. Random Lake, WI 53075). Visitation will be at the church from 9:00am until the time of service. Mae will be laid to rest next to her husband Clarence at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Random Lake or Food Distribution Center Random Lake Area Interfaith Food Pantry, Adell.
