Lynn Mary Holzer, a lifelong resident of Grafton, peacefully passed away in the evening hours of Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon. She was 78 years old.
Lynn was born in Port Washington on March 17, 1946, the eldest daughter of Robert and Marvelle (nee Hilgart) Eernisse. She grew up in Grafton and attended St. Joseph Catholic School, and later Grafton High School, where she graduated with the class of 1964. After high school, Lynn attended the Milwaukee School of Cosmetology, graduating in 1966.
Lynn was the owner and operator of her own hair salon in Grafton, Lynn Mary & Co., until her retirement in 2014. She brought joy to countless clients over the years. Lynn was known for her warm heart, immense talents, and the welcoming atmosphere she created in her salon. Lynn enjoyed helping the Grafton High School doing hair for the high school musicals for many years.
Beyond her work, she was an avid reader who always had her nose in a book, enjoyed family history, attending her grandchildren's events, and she loved a good game of bowling in her younger years.
Lynn was also deeply involved in her community, proudly serving as a member of the Saukville Police Reserves, the Grafton American Legion Auxiliary and the Grafton Fire Department Auxiliary. Lynn also was very active in Operation Yellow Ribbon while her sons were in the military. Her commitment to service and her caring nature touched the lives of many.
Lynn is survived by her four children: Nicholas (Jennifer) Holzer, Andrew (Kay) Holzer Sr., Sarah (Thomas) Runkel and Mathew (Tammy) Holzer. She is further survived by nine grandchildren: Caroline (Steve) Beck, Andrew Jr. (Becca), Logan, Jacob, Brady, Caleb, Anna, Eli, and Mason, three great-grandchildren, Waylon, Oaklynn and Eleanor, five siblings: Bruce "Virgil" (Kerry) Eernisse, Brian (Rebeckah) Eernisse, Laurie (David) Schwalbe, Lee Ann (Dave) Wilde, and Lisa (the late Randy) Mueller, her sister-in-law Nadine Eernisse, former husband Harvey Holzer, nieces nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Lynn is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Marvelle, her brothers; Robert "Bobby" Eernisse, William "Bill" Eernisse, Bert Eernisse, her infant brother Joseph Eernisse, and her sister-in-law Linda Eernisse.
Funeral services celebrating Lynn's life will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2 PM at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Avenue in Cedarburg. Visitation will take place before the service on March 8th at the funeral from 11 AM – 2 PM.
She will be laid to rest by her family in St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in Grafton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Stars and Stripes Honor Flight or the Wounded Warriors Project.
