IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lyle Alfred
Lubner
March 1, 1941 – September 13, 2025
Lyle Alfred Lubner, age 84, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025. He was born on March 1, 1941, to John and Ann (Holz) Lubner. He grew up in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, with his little sister Arlene, almost always by his side, eager to join in whatever mischief or fun he had planned. Lyle cherished many fond memories spending summers at the Holz Family Farm in Nabob, where he found joy and adventure in the simple pleasures of country life.
He married Linda (Liermann) Lubner on July 30th, 1960, and together they shared 65 years of marriage. They happily made their home on a small hobby farm in Fredonia, WI, where they raised their family. They enjoyed snowmobiling with family and friends and were also avid trap shooters and founding members of the Random Lake Rod and Gun Club.
Lyle worked as a skilled tool and die maker for many years, retiring from RAM Tool. He was intentional in all his words of wisdom; telling stories, sharing knowledge, and always supporting the new guy. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, trap shooting, woodworking, and reading every Louis L'Amour novel. He was also a lover of Labs, raising and training many Black Labrador Retrievers for competitive field trials. He will be remembered for his witty humor and clever one-liners, his deep passion for the outdoors, and his enthusiasm for teaching hunting and shooting to youth and newcomers. The wonderful staff at Cedar Grove Gardens Assisted Living coined him the "Gentle Giant."
He is survived by his wife, Linda Lubner; his children, Russell Lubner (Celia Kolar), Lisa (Lubner) and Charles Wallisch, and Debbie (Lubner) Hill; his grandchildren, Heidi, Ian, Holly, and Olivia Hill, Dylan Smith, and Kelsey Wallisch; and his great-grandchildren, Leif and Charlie Simon. He is further survived by many other family and friends and will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ann (Holz) and John Lubner, and his sister and brother-in-law, Arlene (Lubner) and Frank Becker.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, WI 53074. Visitation will precede the service from 9:00 to 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Random Lake Rod and Gun Club for an annual "Lyle Lubner Most Improved Award."
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Cedar Grove Gardens and Aurora Grafton Hospital's doctors and nurses who provided intimate and loving care for Lyle and his family.
"Always keep both eyes open; you will see twice as good." – Lyle A. Lubner
