Obituary

Lucille Greiveldinger, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished member of her community, passed away on April 3, 2024, at Harbor Club in Port Washington, surrounded by her loving family. She was 97 years old.

Lucille was born in Port Washington on July 20, 1926, the daughter of John and Clara Mondloch. She grew up in Port Washington and graduated from Port Washington High School with the class of 1944.

On October 18, 1948, she married Elmer Greiveldinger at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington.

Lucille dedicated over three decades of her life alongside her husband, Elmer, at Stokdyk Truck Lines, where together they laid the foundations for a successful business.

A devout member of St. John XXIII Parish (St. Mary's), Lucille found solace and community in her faith. She was also active in the Christian Mother's Society, the Hawthorne Honeys golf league, and a longstanding member of the Hot Cakes bowling team. For over six decades, she enjoyed weekly card games with her close friends, forming bonds that stood the test of time. Lucille was also a longtime volunteer at the Port Washington Food Pantry.

In her retirement, Lucille enjoyed quilting at Christ the King Lutheran Church. She also embraced a spirit of adventure, traveling to many states and indulging in exciting casino trips. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, relishing the moments shared with her expanding family.

Lucille is survived by her two children Richard (Phyllis) Greiveldinger and Ruth (Robert) Otten, her four grandchildren: Mike (Becky) Greiveldinger, Deanna (Rich) Otten-Smith, Keith (Elisabeth) Greiveldinger, and Joanna (Chris Kramer) Otten. She is further survived by 8 great-grandchildren: Macy, Breleigh and Zuri Smith, Adrian, Grayson, and Addison Greiveldinger, and Gabriel and Mara Greiveldinger, sisters-in-law Marilyn (the late Walter) Mondloch, Shirley (the late Joseph) Greiveldinger, and Mae (Gary) Bittner, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and her many friends, old and new, that she made at Harbor Club.

She is preceded in death by her husband Elmer, her brother Elden and sister-in-law Rita Mondloch, and her sister Florence and brother-in-law Leroy "Tudor" Jaeger.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 5 PM at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Peter of Alcantara Church, Port Washington, with a visitation at the Church from 4 PM until the time of Mass. Father Patrick Wendt will preside over the Mass.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband Elmer at St. Mary's Parish Cemetery in Port Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Food Pantry Inc. in Port Washington.

Lucille's family wishes to thank the staff at Harbor Club and Allay Hospice for all their care and compassion.

The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, is honored to serve the family. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com
