Obituary

Lucille Gasper (nee Krier) passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020. Lucille was 97 years old. She was born in the Town of Belgium on February 5, 1923 to Otto and Margaret (Nee Jacoby) Krier. Lucille married Leo Gasper at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada on November 21, 1942. Together they lived in Germantown and Knellsville, before purchasing the farm in the Town of Belgium. Lucille moved to Cedar Grove in 2000. Lucille attended school at St. Nicholas in Dacada and graduated from Random Lake High School. She then attended Sheboygan Business College. After college, Lucille worked for the United States Army in Milwaukee, until she married her husband Leo. Lucille was a member of the Lake Church Choir for more than 30 years and was a member of the Divine Savior Christian Ladies. Lucille and Leo were Duke and Duchess for Luxemburg Fest in 1996. She was a longtime general leader for the Jay Road 4-H Club and was also project leader for sewing, cooking and other home making projects. Lucille and Leo enjoyed traveling and did a lot of fishing and camping. She especially enjoyed family vacations to Kenora, Canada. She loved to talk about all the various states the children and grandchildren lived in and enjoyed quilting, making a special quilt for each of her grandchildren. She enjoyed baking and making cookies for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She baked pies for family gatherings and for her neighbors. Lucille is survived by her children: Ronald Gasper, Dennis (Judith) Gasper, Judith (Paul) Anzia, Doris (Kurt) Sperhake, Scott (Bernadette Walber) Berres, Brenda Drew, Ernest (Terry Purdy) Frazier, 22 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren, sisters: Adeline Schmitz, Dorothy Ardisana, Audrey Mueller, Elaine Nulph, Sylvia (Dick) Ansay, brother Donald (Alice) Krier and son-in-law David Somerford. Lucille is preceded in death by her husband Leo, parents, daughter Bonita Mehring - Somerford, daughter-in-law Linda Gasper, sisters: Angela (Arthur) Schmitz and Eileen Gasper, brothers-in-law: Harvey Schmitz, Joseph Ardisana, J. Earl Mueller and Dennis Nulph. Lucille will be laid to rest next to her husband Leo at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lake Church on Thursday, August 20,2020 at 10:00 A.M. In Lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mary's Cemetery Monument or the American Cancer Society. Lucille's family would like to thank the nursing staff at HSHS Hospice from St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan who helped to keep Lucille comfortable during this trying time. A special thank you to Marie Heinen for the care and compassion she provided. Thank you to the neighbors who graciously assisted with snow removal and other chores making life easier for Lucille over the years.
