Obituary

LUCAS J. GAWRYSIAK Mr. Luke Gawrysiak of Eau Claire and formerly of Port Washington passed away Saturday June 25 2011 following a tragic tubing accident while boating with friends on Lake Holcombe near Eau Claire. He was 29 years old. Luke was born in Milwaukee on October 11 1981 son of Jonathon Gawrysiak and Tina Mattson Gawrysiak. As a young man Luke excelled at any sport he tried and became an accomplished athlete. He enjoyed fishing bowling bowhunting football baseball basketball and wrestling. While briefly attending grade school in Cedarburg he qualified to go to the state wresting meet in his division. As an adult he played semi-pro football with the Eau Claire Crush. Luke attended Port Washington schools and was a member of the Class of 2000. Shortly after he finished high school Luke moved to Eau Claire. Most recently Mr. Gawrysiak was working as a roofer with Rock Tait. Previously he had worked in building roofing logging and carpentry. As long as he had a nail-gun or hammer in his hand he was happy. Luke was a young man who lived on the edge of life and didn't hold anything back. Aside from being an athlete he was an avid sports-fan and enjoyed watching all of the local professional teams play. He liked camping and playing cards with his friends spending time with his family and his daughter Autumn and harbored a life-long love for his mother's tuna salad. Survivors include his daughter Autumn Marie Gawrysiak of Eau Claire his parents John (Diane) Gawrysiak of Port Washington and Tina (Mark) Oman of Belgium sisters Rachel (Daniel) Schwister of Saukville Tiffany Aguilar of Belgium and Harmony (Robert) Triplett of Burlington. He is further survived by his loving friend and companion Merissa Shere of Eau Claire grandparents LaVerne Priebe of Ironwood MI Ginny Oman Paul Carlson of Spread Eagle WI William Oman and Ben Janet Gawrysiak of Milwaukee aunts uncles cousins nieces nephews other relatives and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Theodore Priebe. Funeral Services will be held at 8PM on Thursday June 30th at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington. Rev. Randolph Raasch will officiate. Luke will be laid to rest the next day at Holden East Cemetery in Port Washington. The family will receive visitors at the Eernisse Funeral Home on Thursday June 30th from 4-8PM. Memorials are suggested to the Autumn Marie Gawrysiak Educational Trust in lieu of floral tributes.
