IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louise E.
Reed
September 22, 1926 – October 26, 2024
Louise E. Reed was born to Eternal Life on October 26, 2024, in Montello, Wisconsin. She was 98 years old. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 22, 1926, to the late Howard and Josephine (Hood) Klein.
Louise's life was marked by a deep commitment to service and involvement in various organizations. A faithful member of the First Congregational Church of Port Washington and Benjamin's (Krider's) UCC Church of Westminster, Maryland, Louise found solace and purpose in her faith. Her 32 years of service at Safeway were a testament to her strong work ethic and dedication to her chosen profession in management within the grocery industry.
She was an active member of the "UFCW" Local #27, serving as a Shop Steward for Safeway, where she represented and supported her colleagues. Louise's contributions extended beyond her professional life, as she also served as a Life Member and Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post #5373, where she passionately chaired the Poppy program and held the esteemed position of Color Bearer for the state of Wisconsin. American Legion #412 in Belgium, Wisconsin, also benefitted from Louise's involvement and dedication.
Further highlighting her spirit of volunteerism, Louise was a longstanding member of the Greater Port Washington Kiwanis Club, acting as the Treasurer for 11 years. Additionally, she participated in the McDonald's Dinner Group, delivered Meals on Wheels, and was a devoted Life Member of the Port Washington Historical Society. Louise also found joy in her membership at the West Bend Dance Club.
When asked why she belongs to so many organizations helping others, her response was "We're only going through this world one time."
In her last days, Louise told her daughter to tell her family and friends how much their love and kindness meant to her: "May God bless them … I loved them so."
