Obituary

Loretta Croatt, of Port Washington, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, November 30, 2020 at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. She was 85 years. She was born in Port Washington on November 26, 1935, daughter of Joseph Ansay and Mary Johann Ansay. She grew up on the family farm in the Town of Belgium and attended school at St. Mary Catholic School in Lake Church, and graduated from Port Washington High School with the class 1953. On November 12, 1955, she married James Croatt at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. Loretta worked as a proofreader at Port Publications and as a secretary for Trak International, retiring in 2000. Loretta was member of St. John XXIII Parish (St. Peter's of Alcantara Church) where she served of the friendship committee and taught religious education. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, loved to follow high school wrestling and other activities that her grandchildren were in. She enjoyed gambling and lottery tickets, puzzles and watching "Days of our Lives". She is survived by her three children: Brian (Theresa) Croatt of Port Washington, Jayne (Mitch Schulta) Croatt of Saukville and Renee (Peter) Bares of Port Washington. She is further survived by two grandchildren Eric (Alex Steffen) Croatt and Megan (Jim Simmelink) Bares, siblings Mary (Dick) Neerhof and Pearl (Bob) Houston, sisters-in-law Susie (the late Dennis) Croatt and Carol (the late Henry) Schmitz, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents, her son David and siblings Harvey (the late Elaine) Ansay, Donald (the late Eleanore) Ansay, Marcella (the late Donald) Wittkopp and Delores (the late Henry) Kowalski and sister-in-law Joan Tholl. Due to COVID-19, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John XXIII Parish in Port Washington. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and son at St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Washington. Memorials are suggested to St. John XXIII Parish or the Port Washington Food Pantry.
