Obituary

Lorene M. Martin Lorene M. Martin age 88 years of Beechwood Rest Home passed away on Saturday July 30 2005. She was born on June 16 1917 daughter of the late Rev. George W. and Dolly Lester. On September 9 1939 she married James I. Martin in West Allis. The couple lived in West Allis while Mrs. Martin was the comptroller for several automobile dealerships. After retirement they moved to Florida and in 1982 they returned to live in the Random Lake area. Mrs. Martin was an extremely talented musician being accomplished on the piano and organ. She attended Lawrence College with a music scholarship. She went on to win the Chicago Musicland Festival two consecutive years. Her love of music led her to play the organ for several churches for over 35 years. In 1980 she suffered a massive stroke robbing her of the ability to walk talk write or play music. Since then she thoroughly enjoyed life greeting everyone and life itself with a smile every day. Her cheerfulness was contagious - she had no self-pity she was an inspiration to all who met her. Lorene taught herself to do crewel work one-handed and subsequently won a blue ribbon for her work at the Sheboygan County Fair. Survivors include two sons Larry (Marcia) Martin of Random Lake and Richard Martin of Germantown; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one sister Jean (Rey) Anderson of Iowa other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers Walter and Robert Lester and one stillborn daughter. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday August 2nd at 3 PM at Zion United Methodist Church N1667 State Highway 28 in Batavia with Pastor Lisa Lombardo and Pastor Gerald Moede officiating.
