Lois Korinek, formerly of Grafton, passed away peacefully in the afternoon hours of Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Gables On the Pond, where she had been a resident. She was 99 years old.

She passed peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by love and the legacy of a life well lived. Lois leaves behind countless cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family.

Lois was born on August 25, 1926, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Adolph and Martha (née Kaufhold) Hagen. She grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from Custer High School with the Class of 1944. On September 24, 1949, she married the love of her life, Donald Korinek, in Iowa. He preceded her in death in 2011.

Lois lived her life with a true “joie de vivre”, a spirit that carried through all her years. She found joy in simple, beautiful things—sewing doll clothes, reading, painting, embroidery, and quilting. Her hands were rarely still, and her creations were expressions of her love for those around her. She loved her retirement in Conover, WI, on Deer Lake. “Lake Life” suited her well.

Above all, Lois was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her eight children were blessed to have her, each in their own unique way. She is lovingly survived by her children; Christine, Donald, Thomas, Raynelle, Mary, Janice, and Diane. She shared a special bond with her son Bill, who preceded her in death in 2023, especially during the many Milwaukee Bucks games they enjoyed together. Lois is also preceded in death by her parents, grandson Eddie, and her sisters Arlene, Doris, and Joan.

Lois embraced her family wholeheartedly, loving her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law as her own. She was the proud grandmother of 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Whether through visits, card games, or simple time spent together, her home was always filled with warmth and laughter.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in imagining her continuing her lifelong passion, perhaps even sewing in heaven, just as beautifully as she always did.

The Korinek family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Gables On the Pond and Lilly Hospice for their dedicated care and compassion to their mother.

A special thank you to Daisy and Millie for their love and kindness.

The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, is honored to serve the Korinek family. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com.
