Mrs. Lois Anzia, formerly of Belgium, passed away early Monday morning, October 28, 2019, at Harbor Club in Port Washington while surrounded by her loving family. She was 91 years old. Lois was born in Cedarburg on October 1, 1928, daughter of Bernard and Amanda Esselmann Thelen, one of 15 children born to the couple.
On June 26, 1948, Lois was united in marriage with Marvin Anzia at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Saukville. The couple lived on the Anzia family farm in Lake Church for a few years before moving to a home they built in Belgium; The couple was blessed with six wonderful children.
Prior to her marriage, Lois had worked at the Port Washington Chair Factory. Mrs. Anzia loved babies and babysat local children for many years as well as raising her own family. Skilled with needle and thread, she made many clothes for her children when they were growing up. The Anzia's were active within the Luxembourg community, and were honored as the Duke & Duchess for Luxembourg Festival in 1993. In 2013, Marvin and Lois moved to Harbor Campus in Port Washington. He preceded her in death in 2014.
Mrs. Anzia was a member of Divine Savior Parish – St. Mary's Lake Church where she was a former member of the Christian Women. She was also a member of the Belgium American Legion Post 412 Auxiliary. She loved to play Bingo and cards with family and friends, and was a great cook.
Survivors include her six children: Jeffrey (Barbara) Anzia of Belgium, Peter (MaryBeth) Anzia of Belgium, Jim (Wendy) Anzia of Vida, OR, Linda (Richard) Dykstra of Cedar Grove, Deb (Mark) Wieberdink of Cedar Grove, and Joanne (Jim) Voskuil of Cedar Grove, 24 grandchildren: Stacy (Shawn) Mains, Christopher (Laura) Dykstra, Sally (Josh) Ketterhagen, Erin (Jon) Hoffmann, Jordan (Sean) Engel, Frank (Heather) Anzia, Cliff (Julia) Anzia, Matt (Joy) Anzia, Rhonda (Pat) Krier, Rob Feider, Julie (Keith) LaCount, Emily (Tom) Greene, Nathan (Kayla) Wieberdink, Brian (Marcia) Voskuil, Michael (Anna) Voskuil, Paul (Jess) Voskuil, Kyle (Elyse) Voskuil, Cori (Scott) Navis, Sarah (Jeremy) Wundrock, Katie (Michael) Rose, Amber (Jesse) Fleitz, Pete Anzia, Daniel LiButti, and Jennifer (Sean) Gibbons, 49 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by five sisters: Marilyn (the late Leroy) Averill of West Bend, Rita (Clete) Schneider of West Bend, Kathy (Don) Harmeling of Waterford, Maryann (Dave) Schowalter of Appleton, and Erla (Ron) Schneider of West Bend, four brothers: Gerald (Kay) Thelen of West Bend, Charles "Bud" (Joan) Thelen of West Bend, Richard (Barb) Thelen of West Bend, and Pat (Mary) Thelen of Saukville, brothers-in-law Andy Dieringer of Port Washington and Dan Tedesco of Carter, as well as numerous other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Marvin, granddaughter Renee Alexander, sisters Audrey Dieringer and Ruth Tedesco, and brothers Dan (the late Nancy) Thelen, Cliff (the late Marty) Thelen and Bill Thelen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6PM on Thursday, October 31st, at Divine Savior Parish –Holy Cross Chapel, Father Robert Stiefvater will preside. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in St. Mary Parish Cemetery, Lake Church. Visitation will take place at the CHURCH on Thursday October 31st from 3:30 - 6PM, with a walk-through of the Belgium American Legion Auxillary and the Belgium Fire Department at 5PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Mary Lake Church Cemetery Monument, to help provide a permanent home for the bells from St. Mary Lake Church.
