LLOYD S. AUER Stu Stu Auer age 75 years of the Town of Saukville died Sunday March 14 2004 at St. Joseph Community Hospital in West Bend where he had been a patient for the past several days. He was born September 1 1929 in Milwaukee son of Esther B. Schweppe and Alois Auer. At age 14 while working on a farm in Mayville he earned enough money to cover fifteen hours of flying lessons. Each time he took flying lessons he traveled by bicycle from Mayville to an old airport at Lilly Road and Capital Drive a one-way distance of 40 miles. Because of his love for flying he served in the Army Air Corps from 1946 -1949 and re-enlisted in the Air Force was commissioned as a second lieutenant and served until 1955. On December 3 1951 he married Esther Sheridan in Fredericksburg VA. He worked in customer service as an estimator of electrical apparatus and later as an estimator in the printing business. Stu was an avid reader and enjoyed playing his harmonica. He had a repertoire of around 700 melodies. Survivors include his wife Esther L. Auer five sons Neil (Jo) Auer of Oshkosh Glenn (Susan) Auer of Stevens Point Mark Auer of West Bend Wade (Robin) Auer of Waubeka and Dana (Jackie) Auer of La Crosse his mother Esther B. Auer of Texas nine grandchildren three great grandchildren and one sister Lynn (John) Davies of Texas. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister Lois Amble. Memorial services will be held on Friday March 19 7 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. Port Washington under the auspices of Saukville American Legion Post 470 where he was currently service as commander. Burial of the cremains will be in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home Friday from 4-7 PM.
