Obituary

Linda Rose, age 75, of Cedar Grove died peacefully on October 3, 2024 at Cedar Grove Gardens Assisted Living Center where she lived with her husband, Richard. She was born on July 22, 1949 in Port Washington, daughter of Oscar and Dolores Schmidt. She grew up on the small family farm in rural Cedar Grove. She attended St. Mary's Grade School in Lake Church, graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1967, and then attended UW-Milwaukee. She was an outstanding student, winning a scholarship to UWM. In 1970, Linda married Peter Braeger at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake Church. They moved to Victorville, California where Peter was serving in the Air Force. Their son, Christopher, was born in 1972. Linda finished her college degree in Mathematics at UC-San Bernardino in 1976. She began her career teaching Math in the Apple Valley School System. She was an outstanding teacher who loved her students.

Linda married Richard Rose, the love of her life, in 1981 in Apple Valley, California where they raised a combined family of Chris, Robin, and Jeff. Linda and Richard moved to Cedar Grove in 1989. Linda began her Wisconsin employment at Lakeshore Technical College where she taught classes and later became a Grant Writing Specialist. Linda retired from Lakeshore in 2011.

Linda was devoted to her family. She loved hosting family gatherings on the Holidays. She went overboard decorating the house for Christmas. She had a large collection of enamel miniature boxes, she called them her "pretties". She enjoyed attending country western concerts with her husband, reading, crafting, sewing and playing mah-jongg. She loved shopping at rummage sales and Thrift stores.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Richard Rose; her children Robin Rose-Compagno (John) of Nevada, Jeff (Tracy) Rose of California, Chris (Angie) Rose of Cedar Grove, 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and her sister Pat (Jerry) Moriarity of Glenbeulah. She was preceded in death by brother Jack (Kathy) Schmidt of Cedar Grove and brother Jim (Debbie) Schmidt of Cedar Grove.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Cedar Grove Gardens II and Preceptor Hospice for all the excellent care they gave Linda.

The immediate family will hold a private memorial service. The Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements; online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com. Memorials should be made to Cedar Grove Education Foundation (https://cgbfoundation.com/donate).
