Linda Marie Kies died peacefully on October 21, 2026, at home in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was 79. She has suffered for the last several years from Alzheimer’s, a disease which ended her life, but her spirit carries on.
Born Linda Marie Bichler on July 26, 1947, in north/central Illinois, her formative years were spent with extended family in Ft. Worth, Texas and on a dairy farm in the Rockford/Belvedere area. In 1964 she relocated to the family homestead outside Dacada, Wisconsin, where she graduated from Random Lake High School in 1965.
She married Donald Kies on January 14, 1967, in St. Nicholas church, Dacada. Soon her life was filled with being a mom and all of the joys and responsibilities that go with it. She proudly and lovingly raised three children: John, Brenda and Ron. Originally located in Random Lake, the family moved to a small farm just northeast of Random Lake a few years later. Linda was very involved with St. Mary’s Church in Random Lake where she belonged to Christian Women’s and was instrumental in the Ecumenical Council. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Girl’s Club. She participated in many school activities as her children grew up.
Linda owned and operated the Carroll Street Inn for many years and was a volunteer at Kathy’s Trackside Café in Random Lake. Grandkids brought a special joy to Linda’s life. She cherished them most of all. She worked in payroll at Kohler and held positions in several local firms. In recent years she enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends and sharing her time between Random Lake and winters in Arizona. Linda’s life was full of family, friends, community and service, and she will be missed by all.
Linda is survived by two of her children, Brenda (Karl) Meyer of Scottsdale, AZ and Ron (Jodi) Kies of Grafton, WI.; five grandchildren, Aiden, Shayne, Emma, Tyler (Abigail) and Owen (Sandy); one great grandchild, Evelyn; and five siblings, Robert Bichler, William (Nancy) Bichler, Betty “Becky” (Randy) Soerens, Doris “Dory” Mueller, Diane “Di” (Scott) Roeker; and many nieces and nephews, all who loved her hugs. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Kies, her son, John Kies, her parents, Cletus and Georgia Bichler and her sister Mary Ann Bichler.
A visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N Royal Ave, Belgium, WI 53004 on Thursday, November 12, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 13, 2026, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Parish – St. Mary’s Chapel, 300 Butler St. Random Lake, WI 53075. Words of remembrance will take place just prior to the Mass at 9:50 a.m.
