Lewis G. Holtsclaw, age 82, passed away on June 28, 2026, at Lawlis Family Hospice.
He was born on September 9, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri to parents Lewis V. and Leona (nee Finder) Holtsclaw.
Lewis enlisted into the United States Air Force and served from 1961 to 1969, during the Vietnam War. He attended the University of Nebraska and earned his bachelor’s degree. Shortly after he earned his CPA License in Nebraska. He worked for the commercial and residential development group as chief financial officer in Colorado for 40 years. Lewis was united in marriage with Rosemary McClintock on September 15, 1984. The couple had no children together but blended their family with a total of five children.
Lewis loved sports, working, reading and studying about the Civil War. He had a large collection of books as well as many trips, learning more about the Civil War. Lewis and Rosemary loved traveling, especially around Europe. He loved going and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events, never missing a game. Together as a couple, they would go golfing and have also attended many PGA golf tours.
After retirement, he joined the American Legion Peter Wollner Post 288. In 2019, he won the legionnaire of the year award.
Lewis is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary, his children Scott Holtsclaw of Arkansas, Brian Holtsclaw of Colorado, Rosemary’s children Leslie (Scott) Struve of Wisconsin and Kristen Bell of Wisconsin, grandchildren Cody Holtsclaw, Maxwell Struve, and Greyson Struve. He is further survived by his sisters Lynne Adams and Joyce Bastian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Dawn Craig, sister Carol, and brother John.
Per Lewis’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held with military honors.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at Lawlis Family Hospice for their care and compassion.
