LEROY J. MEYER, JR. Mr. LeRoy Meyer, age 69, of County Road G in the Town of Holland, passed away at his residence early April 30, 2016, surrounded by his friends, following a battle with prostate cancer. LeRoy was born in Milwaukee on January 20, 1947, son of LeRoy J. Meyer ,Sr., and Elinor Hoover Meyer. He moved from Milwaukee to the Cedar Grove area as a young child, and was raised by his foster parents Walter & Jennie Hesselink. Following his schooling, LeRoy proudly served his country in the United States Army. On August 9, 1969 he was united in marriage with Ruth A. DeRuyter at St. John's Church in Schwarzwald. The couple farmed in Cedar Grove, and Mr. Meyer also worked at the foundry in Cedar Grove. They had multiple private business ventures, including L&R Trucking. Ruth preceded him in death this past summer. LeRoy loved taking care of his farm, the animals, and going to auctions. He was a very social fellow, who had a soft spot in his heart for angus cattle. Mr. Meyer is survived by his mother-in-law Marie DeRuyter of Howards Grove, foster-daughter April (James) Christ of Cedar Grove, special niece Naomi Voskuil, two sisters, and a step-sister. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, foster-parents and a brother. Funeral Services will be held at 4PM on Monday, May 9th at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 200 Park Street, Belgium, followed by Military Honors. Pastor Wayne King will preside. Mr. Meyer will be laid to rest beside his wife the following day in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Kohler. Visitation will be held at the CHURCH on Monday from 3-4PM.
