Mr. Leonard C. Augustin of Port Washington passed away Monday evening April 15 2013 at Serenity Homes of Grafton. He was 90 years old. Leonard was born February 5 1923 in Port Washington the son of George and Anna Ellerman Augustin. After graduating from Port Washington High School he proudly served his country in the United States Airforce CBI from 1943-1946 and was stationed in India. Upon returning to the United States he worked on an oil rig in Louisiana. After a few years he returned to his hometown of Port Washington where he worked at Modern Equipment. On October 4 1952 he was united in marriage with Harriet Burkel at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Random Lake. Leonard worked at Modern Equipment for 44 years as a draftsman retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church where he had previously been active with the Men's Group. Leonard was also a member of the local VFW Post 5373 where he was a past Commander and Quartermaster as well as the Senior Center's pool league and the senior mens golf league. Leonard took much pride in his home which he designed and built and in his free time enjoyed sheepshead dancing playing bridge going for walks and traveling. Leonard is survived by his wife of 60 years Harriet of Port Washington and their children: Jean Clark (Mike Perkins) of Sturgeon Bay Linda (Kent) Bergemann of Mequon Steve (Denise) Augustin of Menomonee Falls and Debbie Buchholz (Marvin Fechter) of Grafton. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Rich Melissa and Daniel Clark Mark and Michael Bergemann Andrew and Sara Augustin Angela Ashley and Nicholas Buchholz 1 great-grandchild and 1 on the way son-in-law Dick Clark of Sturgeon Bay brothers-in-law: Herb Possley of Cedar Grove and Ted (Carol) Burkel of Fredonia sisters-in-law: Dorothy Augustin of Brookfield Helen Burkel of Port Washington Arlene Fechter of Newburg and Donna (John) Knoeck of West Bend nieces nephews other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his son-in-law Bob Buchholz and siblings: Joe Fred Norbert Bernadine Hoffman Possley Leander Mary Bahr and Reuben. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5PM on Friday April 19 at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church 1800 N. Wisconsin Ave. Port Washington. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at St. Mary's Mausoleum Port Washington. The family will receive visitors at church on Friday from 3-5PM. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church or the Ozaukee County Stars and Stripes Honor Flight.
