Obituary

Lawrence L. "Larry" Reske

After a brief illness, long time Town of Grafton resident Larry Reske was born to Eternal Life on Thursday February 8, 2024 at the age of 79. Larry was born on the south side of Milwaukee on January 2, 1945 the third youngest child of Bernard and Mary (nee Murawski) Reske. Growing up in a large family, Larry developed a strong work ethic at an early age. After graduating from Boys Tech High School in Milwaukee, he started working as a route representative for Pepsi. He was a "people person" who made friends and relationships easily. This trait, along with his work ethic lead to a successful career in management at large Madison and Milwaukee area retail food stores, with the most significant stretch being with Roundy's. His career also lead to him meeting the love of his life, his wife Mary (nee Kuechler). They were married on July 17, 1993. Throughout his life Larry was passionate about sports, both as a participant, coach and a fan, with an emphasis on teams his children were on. Larry's Christian faith helped weather the different challenges he and his family faced over the years.

Larry cherished any moments spent with any of his five children, wife, family and friends. Larry was eternally proud of his role as a father and self titled it as his most fulfilling job. Famous for his self-deprecating humor and comedic-timing, he always found a way to make nearly everyone in the room laugh. As a life-long student of self-improvement, he was a mentor to employees, family and friends alike. Although limited in his ability to fully participate in outdoor recreation he thoroughly enjoyed engaging in activities like fishing whenever the opportunity presented itself. A lover of games, he enjoyed relieving the Kuechler Family of any and all loose pocket change over a fun game of Sheepshead. It is often said that with time, people tend to forget the words you say and the things you do but they never forget how you made them feel. Larry always made others feel special and had the gift of making them feel seen.

Larry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary (nee Kuechler). He is the father of Christopher (Gaylyn) Reske, Jonathan (Jennifer) Reske, Katherine (David) Mikulak, Margaret Reske, Nathan Reske and the late Mary Lee Reske; grandfather of Kayleigh Reske, Sydney Mikulak, Ian Mikulak, and twin granddaughters due this spring; brother of the late Ronald Reske, the late Robert (Susan) Reske, Beverly "Fay" (the late Frank) Lyman, Thomas (Joan) Reske, Judith (the late Jerome) Michalek, the late Suzanne Gasser, Sandra Gomez and Wayne Reske; son-in- law of the late James and the late Loretta (nee Schmidt) Kuechler; brother-in-law of Jenny (the late Don) Uelmen, the late Bev Kuechler, Dennis (Lois) Kuechler, Mike (Mary) Kuechler, Maureen (the late Jim) Becker, Geriann (Tom) Fox and Colleen (Todd) Priest. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
