Lawrence J. Schmidt 'Spummel of PORT WASHINGTON died November 28 2011at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg age 97 years. He was born October 24 1914 in Port Washington son of John and Adeline Wolfus Schmidt. On June 10 1939 he married Priscilla Rausch at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grafton. Lawrence worked at Gilson Foundry and Bolens in Port Washington until retiring. He was well known in the community for his love of gardening. He is survived by his wife Priscilla of Lasata Care Center his sons Gerald (Elaine) Schmidt of Port Washington the late Richard (Karen) Schmidt of Wheeling IL Ralph Schmidt of West Milwaukee Kenneth (Sue Kenealy) Schmidt of Milwaukee and Christopher (Marla) Schmidt of Goodyear AZ He is also survived by 12 grandchildren 13 great grandchildren his sister Grace (Bud) Miller of Milwaukee his brother Roger (Shirley) Schmidt of Hastings NE other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday December 1 4 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church Port Washington with Father Tom Lijewski officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. In state at the CHURCH Thursday from 2-4 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials appreciated to Hope House of Milwaukee 209 W. Orchard St. Milwaukee 53204.
