Mrs. LaVerne Rydz of Sheboygan Falls passed away at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center in the early hours of Tuesday, February 20, 2024. She was 90 years old.
LaVerne was born in Port Washington on November 4, 1933, daughter of Alfred and Hilda (nee Schmidt) Noltze. She attended local schools and graduated from Port Washington High School.
On March 10, 1951, LaVerne was united in marriage with Edward Rydz at St. John Lutheran Church in Port Washington. The couple lived in Mequon before moving to Cedar Grove in 1961. They later moved to a home on Lake Winnebago. LaVerne and Ed wintered in Florida near Avon Park for over 30 years and enjoyed many wonderful friendships there. The couple traveled in their spare time, often to Europe, and also enjoyed painting together. Ed preceded LaVerne in death in 2003.
Following Ed's death, LaVerne moved to Menasha before moving to Sheboygan Falls in 2010. She has resided at Rocky Knoll since September of 2023.
Mrs. Rydz was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. She was a skilled painter and particularly enjoyed the medium of acrylics. LaVerne had a green thumb and took joy in taking care of her plants, especially the African Violets. Mrs. Rydz took an interest in games and especially enjoyed playing Mahjongg. In her younger days she enjoyed playing tennis.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children Patricia (the late Julius) Williams, Sharon Davey, and Randall (Jenifer) Rydz. She is further survived by 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Frances Rydz, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. LaVerne is preceded in death by her husband Edward, their son Edward Rydz, Jr., sister Geraldine Norris and brothers Marvin and LeRoy Noltze.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1019 N. 7th Street in Sheboygan. Reverend Tyler Werner will preside. LaVerne will be laid to rest beside her husband later that day at Union Cemetery in Port Washington. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, February 24th, at the CHURCH from 10AM until 11AM.
