Laurie Clark Andrzejewski Laurie Andrzejewski passed away on August 25 2010 from pancreatic cancer. In her 57 years she touched the lives of many people and children she met in her lifetime. Her husband Andy describes her as ldquo;the very fabric of my liferdquo; and since they met the intertwining of their love personality and character has formed a life tapestry that includes their sons Scott (Jamie) and Ryan extended family members and many friends and co-workers.nbsp; Laurie grew up in Grand Rapids MI near St Thomas Parish. Her religious upbringing established the groundwork for a giving person. The oldest of four children (Laurie Cam Matt and Robbie) Laurie developed maternal instincts early as she cared for her siblings to allow parents Don and Romana Clark to run a furniture upholstery business and various charitable organizations. When in high school the family moved to Silver Lake in Rockford MI. Laurie immediately began to teach swimming lessons and continued to teach swimming to children adults and cognitively disabled children more recently at Thomas Jefferson Middle School Port Washington WI. She wanted to make children feel comfortable in the water so in the event of an accident they would have the presence of mind to find safety. Laurie developed long term friends on Silver Lake (Mary Dick Paul Sue and others) who share in her loss today. Living on Silver Lake was a special time in Lauriersquo;s life with the Stickneys Smiths and many friends. She enjoyed water skiing in the summer and downhill skiing at Pando Ski Resort in winter months. One of her favorite songs is ldquo;A Summer Placerdquo; and listening to it would bring back fond memories with her parents and siblings Cam Matt Robbie and many lake friends. During the Fall of 1971 Laurie met her husband Andy at Northwood University Midland MI. She offered Andy frosted animal cookies and they began their relationship by taking bicycle rides throughout campus (Laurie rode on the handlebars) enjoying the Michigan fall and eventually falling in love. She accepted Andyrsquo;s fraternity pin in February 1972 received a candlelight serenade and enjoyed the tradition of having the fraternity brothers throw Andy into the river. In October 1973 following the Great Lakes Conference Championship football game Andy proposed to Laurie on Silver Lake in a row boat under a full moon. She accepted and their lives were changed forever. On September 28 1974 Laurie married Andy Andrzejewski at Our Lady of Consolation Parish n Rockford MI. Father Cusack gave sound advice that ldquo;marriages are built and rebuilt everydayrdquo;.nbsp; Her marriage with Andy was a precious gift from God and they worked to honor and love each other in all aspects of their marriage. On July 18 1976 (the 200th day of the 200th year of our countryrsquo;s history) Scott was born and we moved to Rockford MI. He was our firstborn and unique to our family and the delight of his grandparents George Virginia Don and Romana. On September 10 1978 Ryan was born and all could tell Ryan resembled the Clark side of the family and grew to appreciate Lauriersquo;s art talents. Laurie was an excellent mother to her boys. Uncompromising in developing good character but most importantly she taught them how to love.nbsp; The years in Rockford were precious to Laurie as she developed life-long friends like Lepechs Ellisrsquo;s Sister Zelia Cordiero and others. Laurie enjoyed the seasons on the Rogue River that included a large sliding hill in the winter. In January 1992 the family moved to Port Washington WI and a year later Laurie began working at Thomas Jefferson Middle School with cognitively disabled children. She made it her passion to be an advocate for these children and relied on her business acumen to get these children involved in the community by working at the food pantry reading to elementary children and various retail establishments. She actively sought to draw art talent from her students and has completed many art projects to the delight of her students parents and staff. She certainly saw Christ in everyone and worked to uphold the dignity of the children in her care. This passion has earned her the respect and love from Arlan Galarowicz principal and the entire staff at Thomas Jefferson Middle School for her efforts the last eighteen years. Lauriersquo;s interest included AtoZ Fusions a video business with son Ryan.nbsp;nbsp; Together mother and son shared a special joy completing class videos weddings and a video of the construction of the Possibility Playground for ldquo;allrdquo; children in Port Washington. Laurie experienced great joy when her son Scott married Jamie Piete of South Milwaukee and she finally was able to enjoy a relationship with a daughter who returns her love with compassion.
