Laurene A. Klas (nee Watry), age 82, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018. Laurene was born on August 19, 1935 in Ashippun, Wisconsin to Lawrence and Olive (nee Schmidt) Watry. She was united in marriage to William Klas on May 21, 1955 at St. Mary's Lake Church Chapel. They settled in Fredonia and started their family, later moving to Cascade on Lake Ellen in 1985. They moved back to the Fredonia area in 2015. Laurene was a loving wife to her late husband "Wild Willie" and fiercely devoted to her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies included, crocheting, sheepshead, and collecting Precious Moments figurines. She will always be remembered by her grandchildren for her famous mashed potatoes and chili. Laurene was a longtime member of the Fredonia American Legion Auxillary, Divine Savior Parish and the Christian Women's Society. Laurene is survived by her children Darlene (Ted) Klockow of Random Lake, Dr. Paul (Karen) Klas of La Crosse, Mary Jo "Mickie" (Wayne) Schueller of Holy Cross, Rev. Duane (Liz) Klas of Cedar Springs, MI brothers: Tom (Rose) Watry of Cecil, Bill (Linda) Watry of Loveland, CO, the Rev. Phillip (Betty) of Sumpter, SC, George (Karen) of Mesa, AZ, Joe (Ann) Watry of Cedar Grove; sisters, Clara (Ray) Klopp of Fremont, Joanne (Richard) Bley of Belgium and Anne (Steve) Burres of Lebanon, IN, sisters-in-law Kathy Watry of Saukville and Barb Watry of Cedar Grove. She is further survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband William, infant daughter Linda Laura; brothers, Charles and Chris Watry; brother-in-law, Don Schueller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00PM on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Divine Savior – Holy Cross Chapel, 5332 Hwy B, Belgium. Father Richard Cerpich will preside. She will be laid to rest the following day next to her husband William at St. Rose Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Thursday from 3:00PM until 5:45PM.
